If there is an icon, a prophet of American folk-rock music in the 60s, this person is Robert Allen Zimmerman (Bob Dylan). Dylan is perhaps the best composer of political and social themes in the history of music, mainly, the events of the 60s.

Was born Robert Allen Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota, on May 24, 1941. He learned to play harmonica and piano as a teenager in addition to playing guitar, the instrument along with the harmonica became his trademark. He was greatly influenced by the music of Hank Williams and Little Richard and learned to play rock and roll. In the years of school, set up some blues groups with classmates. He joins the University of Minnesota where large electric guitar for an acoustic guitar influenced by folk musicians, primarily by the musician Woody Guthrie. In December 1960, went to New York where he is performing in bars and where stands the folk scene in the region, mainly in Greenwich Village. A great moment for his career was on April 11, 1961, where he opened the show of blues singer John Lee Hooker. After playing harmonica on a session Carolyn Hester, Dylan is approached by producer John Hammond to a contract with Columbia Records. the first album of Bob Dylan did not get much repercussion, but the next album "The Freewheelin 'achieved great repercussion. In this album are Dylan's early classics as "Blowin in the Wind," "It's Alright," "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall."

In 1963, Dylan performs at the Newport Folk Festival along with other singers like Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and Phil Ochs. In 1964, he released two albums "The Times They Are a-Changin" and "Another Side of Bob Dylan." Later that year, the music of the Beatles became global fever and Bob Dylan meets John, Paul, George and Ringo. Bob Dylan came to influence the set especially John Lennon in his lyrics. Another group heavily influenced by Dylan were the Byrds. That year also would be released "Bringing It All Back Home" and make their first UK tour which was attended by many British bands like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Animals and more. Also in 65 he would play again at the Newport Festival this time also playing an electric guitar on which he played three songs, then returned to the guitar.

There comes a period in which the rock takes a turn for the psychedelic, Beatles join the movement as well as the Stones. Jimi Hendrix in this period stands out with the cover of "Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan.

Also in this period, Dylan has an accident, but this accident would be used an excuse to stay out of the picture Dylan for a while. He surfaced again in 1969 with an album more "country", the "Nashville Skyline" with the famous hit "Lay Lady Lay" a song that was performed well on the radio. This year, it was the Woodstock festival on the farm of the same name, not far from where Bob Dylan lived. But he does not want to participate in this festival and gigs brand in England.

We may be 70 years. Bob Dylan leaves the scene again but this time his music suffer a fall.Dylan in the '70s was no longer that great composer idolized by young people. He who in the '60s was an icon next to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones gets a little out of the picture in the next decade.

In 1976, Dylan had returned to the scene even though he is no longer one of Dylan's 60 years, launches the album "Desire" with great success "Hurricane."

Bob Dylan during this period leaves aside the social compositions and begins to make letters more religious, especially Christian songs of nature. A trilogy of albums of this type would be launched, "Slow Train Comming", "Saved" and "Shot of Love." Dylan in the '80s but to compose something back to their original style, which immortalized him in 60 years.

Today Bob Dylan performs public concerts where he plays well in its main successes. He certainly revolutionized the art of writing songs, showing the world the social problems that occur in everyday life.
